Tănase Tănase a stat pe banca tehnică în peste 2.400 de partide oficiale în calitate de antrenor principal, dintre care 205 au fost meciuri interţări şi 239 de întâlniri din competiţii europene!
Nea Tică, aşa cum era cunoscut în lumea voleiului, a condus Steaua Bucureşti la cinci titluri de campioană naţională între 1967 şi 1971. Tot cu Steaua a jucat finala Cupei Campionilor Europeni (1969) şi alte două semifinale în cea mai importantă competiţie intercluburi”, au anunţat reprezentanţii clubului CSA Steaua pe pagina oficială de Facebook.
”Eu am fost formator de jucători! Am lansat fix 90 pe prima scenă. Asta e marea performanță!”, îi plăcea lui nea Tică să spună. Tănase Tănase a jucat la Petrolul Ploiești, Dinamo Brașov și Tractorul Brașov, iar ca antrenor a pregătit Dinamo Brașov, Tractorul Brașov, Steaua București, Electrotehnica Bistrița, Rapid București, Romradiatoare Brașov și LPS Brașov.

În 2022, la finala Cupei României, de la Brașov, nea Tică a primit din partea echipei tricoul Stelei înaintea partidei cu Arcada Galați.
”Steaua e echipa mea de suflet, clubul la care am cucerit cinci titluri consecutive de campion. Îmi aduc aminte, în 1967, când am obținut primul titlu de campion din istoria stelistă! Acea aniversare chiar a fost una de neuitat, pentru că în acel an toate secțiile de jocuri sportive, volei, baschet, handbal, fotbal, au cucerit titlurile de campioane!”, declara legendarul antrenor în 2022, la 96 de ani, conform FR de Volei.
