Eșecul la scor cu ilfovenii, 0-4, aruncă, în continuare, Petrolul în zona emoțiilor legate de menținerea în Superligă. În aceste condiții Marian Copilu, șeful lupilor galbeni, s-a reorientat asupra unui antrenor cu mai mare experiență, Balint în cazul de față, pentru un contract care cuprinde și sezonul următor.

Petrolul surprindea, la un moment dat, cu aducerea în colectivul tehnic a lui Ștefan Odoroabă. Se întrevedea, la acel moment, o venire, ca antrenor principal, a lui Eusebiu Tudor care a colaborat, în câteva mandate, cu fostul tehnician al lui CS Tunari. Lucrurile s-au schimbat, rapid, iar Odoroabă nu intră în planurile noului antrenor principal Laszlo Balint urmând să încheie, atât de rapid, colaborarea cu ploieștenii.
Misiune dificilă pentru Balint
Laszlo Balint nu este la prima tentativă de a deveni antrenorul Petrolului. Mai de fiecare dată când s-a întâmplat ceva pe banca Petrolului, iar Balint era liber de contrat, s-a vehiculat și numele acestuia. Acum, prezența lui Marian Copilu, alături de care a lucrat și la Craiova, ar fi argumentul principal legat de venirea lui Balint. În orice condiții, Petrolul are, în continuare, destule emoții legate de menținerea în prima ligă. Iar debutul, la Cluj Napoca, nu este, sub nicio formă, unul facil.
