Jucătorul care se va impune în turneul de tenis ATP 250 de la Bucureşti va obţine 250 de puncte ATP. În plus, premiile oferite în cadrul competiţiei Ţiriac Open cumulează un total de 580.000 de euro, campionul la simplu urmând să primească 88.125 de euro, iar finalistul 150 de puncte ATP şi 51.400 de euro.
Competiţia de tenis, a cărei licenţă este deţinută de Ion Ţiriac, a revenit la Bucureşti după opt ani, ea fiind organizată peste hotare după ce baza sportivă Arene BNR din Capitală a fost închisă din motive de siguranţă.

Turneul va fi transmis pe canalele Digi Sport. Pe tabloul principal de simplu vor mai figura, între alţii ”veteranul” elveţian Stan Wawrinka, al cărui adversar din primul tur va fi portughezul Nuno Borges, canadianul Denis Shapovalov, care îl va înfrunta pe francezul Corentin Moutet, olandezul Tallon Griekspoor, al doilea favorit, americanul Sebastian Korda, cap de serie numărul trei, care vor intra direct în optimi, anunță Agerpres.
„În 2016 a fost ultimul turneu aici, iar acum l-am adus înapoi. Îi mulţumesc domnului Marica şi domnului Năstase pentru că ne-au pus la dispoziţie acest club. Dar şi fiului meu îi mulţumesc pentru că mi-a dat bani ca să fac treaba asta cu turneul.
Vom mai sta un an aici cu turneul… deci probabil va fi aici şi anul viitor. Dar având în vederea că nu a trecut legea fundaţiilor de interes comun, cu impozitele şi ce mai este, treaba cu stadionul de 13.000 de locuri (n.r. – construcţia unei arene de tenis de 13.000 de locuri lângă patinoarul din Otopeni) este terminată.

Aşa cum e terminat şi proiectul cu patinoarul de la Braşov, pentru că primăria de acolo nu a fost de acord să îi ia gratis pentru că are anumite legi.
Am obosit şi eu să mă rog de toată lumea. Să facem ce putem să facem cu turneul ăsta. Pentru că este cel mai bun turneu de ATP 250 pe care l-am avut vreodată în România

Aşa că îl păstrăm şi mergem mai departe. Poate încet-încet vom mai avea şi nişte băieţi în primii 500 din lume sau în primii 200 dacă se poate, că în primii 20 mor cu speranţa”, a afirmat fostul mare sportiv.
Ion Tiriac este un pionier al tenisului romanesc si un adevarat sustinator al acestui sport. Reintoarcerea turneului ATP de la Bucuresti dupa 8 ani este o veste excelenta pentru tenisul romanesc si pentru toti iubitorii acestui sport. Suntem mandri ca avem un astfel de turneu in tara noastra si sunt convins ca il vom avea si in anii urmatori. Premiile oferite in cadrul competitiei si punctele ATP acordate vor atrage jucatori de top din intreaga lume, iar transmisia la TV pe canalele Digi Sport va permite tuturor sa urmareasca meciurile si sa fie parte din acest eveniment.
