Echipa universitară de handbal masculin din Cluj-Napoca are o tradiție îndelungată în handbalul masculin românesc, fiind înființată încă din 1935, epocă în care acest sport se juca în 11.
Universitatea Cluj continuă să performeze în handbalul masculin! „Am visat la acest moment”
U Cluj se mândrește cu multe generații de jucători care au fost o sursă continuă de inspirație și sprijin pentru echipa actuală. Universitatea Cluj de astăzi se concentrează în egală măsură pe educație și performanță, motivând tinerii să-și atingă potențialul maxim.
Echipa a avut, în sezonul care tocmai s-a încheiat, cea mai mică medie de vârstă din Liga Zimbrilor – 23 de ani. Interul Călin Hossu, component al echipei, a fost cel mai bun marcator din Liga Zimbrilor în sezonul 2023-2024.
La evenimentul de sâmbătă, 8 iunie, fani ai clubului și iubitori ai handbalului din Cluj s-au reunit timp de câteva ore pentru a marca noul parteneriat cu BRD Groupe Société Générale și a discuta despre ambițiile de viitor.
Care au fost spusele antrenoarei Carmen Amariei?
Principala protagonistă a evenimentului a fost Carmen Amariei, unul dintre cei mai buni interi din istoria handbalului românesc, multiplă campioană a României, Franței și Danemarcei și câștigătoare a titlului mondial de tineret cu naționala României, în 1995.
De asemenea, Carmen Amariei este dublă câștigătoare a Ligii Campionilor, în 2005 și 2007, cu Slagelse.
Carmen a vorbit atât despre succesele din carieră, cât și despre momentele dificile, oamenii providențiali pe care i-a întâlnit, revelațiile pe care le-a avut atât în sport, cât și în viață.
„Trebuie să mărturisesc că nu am visat să fiu antrenoarea unei echipe de băieți, însă îmi plac foarte mult provocările, chiar dacă am fost primită cu circumspecție. Mă bucur extraordinar pentru că mi s-a oferit această șansă și cred că împreună cu partenerii noștri ne vom atinge obiectivele,” a spus Carmen Amariei, care a fost numită antrenoare a echipei de handbal masculin U Cluj la finele lui 2023.

La rândul său, Liviu Hossu, managerul secției de handbal masculin a clubului Universitatea Cluj, a declarat: ”Am visat la acest moment și înseamnă foarte mult pentru noi. Deschiderea pe care am avut-o din partea BRD este extraordinară, consider că partenerii noștri ne vor ajuta să ajungem la un nivel superior și avem foarte multe de învățat de ei.”
Pentru BRD, este cel de-al doilea parteneriat cu o echipă din ligile de seniori ale României, după susținerea oferită echipei feminine CSM București.
