Halep a plecat la Miami alături de mama ei şi a spus că în SUA vor merge şi tatăl şi fratele ei. Ea este antrenată la acest turneu de Joao Monteiro.

Simona Halep a primit un wild card la turneul WTA de la Miami. Invitaţia a venit a doua zi după ce TAS a decis să reducă suspendarea sportivei de la patru ani la nouă luni.
„Această scrisoare certifică faptul că Miami Open 2024, prezentat de Itau, parte a circuitului profesionist de tenis ATP şi WTA, care distribuie peste 17 milioane de premii totale, începând cu 17 martie şi terminând pe 31 martie, se va desfăşura în Miami, Gardens, FL, SUA, şi va găzdui competiţia de calificare la simplu, care adună 96 de jucători masculin şi feminin, începând cu duminică, 17 martie 2024, şi competiţia principală de simplu şi dublu cu 320 de jucători în perioada 19-31 martie 2024.
Eu, directorul turneului Miami Open 2024, invit oficial jucătorul menţionat mai sus (n.r. Simona Halep) şi echipa sa de suport la turneul nostru”, se arată în invitaţia primită de Simona, şi semnată de James Blake, directorul turneului Miami Open 2024.
De când nu a mai jucat Simona Halep?
Cel mai bun rezultat al Simonei Halep la Miami Open este atingerea semifinalelor în două rânduri, 2015 şi 2019. În 2015 a fost învinsă în penultimul act de americanca Serena Williams, cu 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, iar în 2019 de Karolina Pliskova, cu 7-5, 6-1. Ultima sa participare la turneul din Florida datează din 2021, când pierdea în turul al treilea.
Halep nu a mai jucat un meci oficial din 29 august 2022, când era învinsă de ucraineanca Daria Snigur cu 6-2, 0-6, 6-4, în primul tur la US Open, ulterior fiind depistată pozitiv la un control antidoping efectuat la turneul nrewyorkez.
